How do you introduce yourself and another person to someone else?
In English culture, you may have been told it’s polite to mention the other person who is with you, and then yourself:
This is Jake, and I’m Dave.
When talking about another person and yourself, you’d mention the other person first in English:
Jake and I will fish.
But in Pennsylvania Dutch / Deitsh culture, you mention yourself first, and then the other person:
Ich binn Dave un dess is Jake.
Mich un Jake zayla fish’a.
This isn’t considered rude. It’s simply a difference between English culture and Pennsylvania Dutch / Deitsh culture.
